We’re just getting started!

As CEO of KIPP, I’ve been fortunate over the years to meet many of our supporters. Over coffees and dinners, kitchen tables and board rooms, it’s been inspiring and gratifying to hear why, when there are so many deserving organizations and causes, people give to KIPP.

Across what now must be hundreds of conversations, two themes consistently emerge. For so many, education was the thing that made the difference. Education unlocked opportunity and was the foundation on which all else was built. Beyond the personal, education is also widely understood as the key to our nation’s future prosperity.

At KIPP, we are so grateful to the champions that make our work possible. This was always true, and even more so this past year. In big and small ways, our supporters stepped up to meet the realities of the pandemic with compassion and generosity.

You helped make sure alumni got home safe when campuses closed. You gave so that every KIPPster had a computer on the first day of school. You helped our schools hire more counselors and social workers, and you made sure that small financial emergencies didn’t derail alumni working hard toward a degree or credential.

But long before COVID – thanks to your generosity – ours is a story of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning. Point to any achievement in KIPP’s history – our scale, world-class leadership development programs, outsized gains in academic achievement, and ever-growing alumni network – and you will find a funder who believed.

“It takes a noble man to plant a seed for a tree that will someday give shade to people he may never meet.”

– Dr. Elton Trueblood

The late theologian and writer Dr. Elton Trueblood said, “It takes a noble man to plant a seed for a tree that will someday give shade to people he may never meet.” As we mark our 27th year at KIPP, we do so with the knowledge that our success is the result of the many seeds you planted.

And we’re just getting started. Because, as far as we have come, we’re committed to reaching even higher. We invite you to learn more about our vision and to help us realize it. Together, we will reach more students, offering an educational experience that is filled with love, joy, rigor and purpose. Let’s get to work!
